It's a quiet day. Earnings and interest rates drive the market. I've said that interest rates will remain unchanged the rest of the year. The economy is slowing and the potential for inflation exists. This will keep the Fed on its current path. Earnings season is winding down. The growth rate has been above 6% which is positive enough to keep the bid to the market. On a day-to-day basis, M&A news is the focal point. The path of least resistance is up and in the absence of news; the market is likely to tick higher. The S&P 500 is attempting to make a new all-time closing high and even the tech stocks broke out to the upside. All signs point higher, however, the activity could get very quiet over the next few weeks as the market searches for a catalyst.image
