The market is nursing a holiday hangover. It is balancing negative overnight price movement and the Asian markets with positive news on the M&A front. Blackstone strikes again in pays a 26% premium for Hilton Hotels. The economic numbers this morning did not generate much of a reaction. The market should fall into in early trading range ahead of the Unemployment Number tomorrow. In today's chart you can see that tech stocks are finally participating in this rally. They have quietly made a new multiyear high. You can also see that the volatility is increasing. I'm not ready to jump on that bandwagon because I don't see the corresponding earnings to justify the rally. There are bright spots, but in general I have not witnessed the revised guidance I'm looking for. This will be a quiet trading day. After tomorrow's number, things could also quiet down quickly. I will wait until next week before I take any new positions. Experience has taught me not to force trades in holiday markets.image
